“What are perfect day and night for an outdoor event like this,” said one attendee. What event was she talking about? It was the 1st annual Project Dragoste shoe collection celebration held in Cambridge, IL. Event coordinator Damian DeKezel traveled with Another Child Foundation last July on the annual VBS camp trip and wanted to further the ministry by bringing it back to his home community.

The day featured a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, a 4 on 4 sand volleyball tournament and a kids carnival. The evening activities started off with a dinner followed by many different styles of worship music from area worship teams. A children’s choir started it off followed by 4 other artists and bands. The evening culminated with all of the musicians on stage for a final song! What a night is was.

People were encouraged to bring a pair of shoes for admission to the event. Donations were collected to help the ministry. In total 335 pairs of shoes were donated, over 200 pairs of socks, nearly $2800 and while an official count was not taken hundreds of people enjoyed a wonderful night of entertainment.
